Cupertino, June 8. Apple announced a slew of software updates including iOS 27 at its Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2026. The focus this year was on speed and artificial intelligence (AI).

A faster, smoother iOS 27

iOS 27 is being described as a Snow Leopard-style update that fixes the underlying machinery. Apple claims apps launch up to 30% faster, with overall performance gains of up to 70%.

A new, Gemini-powered Siri

The biggest announcement was the new Siri, made more capable and conversational with Google Gemini under the hood. It will also live as a stand-alone app and work across apps — surfacing specific photos without opening the Photos app, or building a route from an on-screen image.

Apple Intelligence and parental controls

New features include tab management in Safari, AI reply suggestions in Messages, and the Phone app pulling context from other apps mid-call. Apple also unveiled stronger parental controls for children, with "Ask to Browse" and "Ask to Buy" on by default.
